Luminous

lu·mi·nous/ˈlo͞omənəs/

adjective

  1. full of or shedding light; bright or shining, especially in the dark.

The world is heavy right now.

Hatred.

Violence.

Pain.

But the world has been heavy before.

And it will be heavy again.

The weight of the darkness can only be offset by the souls who shine, despite having been told their one small, single light will not make a difference. Despite feeling the weight of the air around them.

And with each soul flickering on like the first lamppost at dusk, one more person may see their way home. Should one be extinguished, another will guide the path.

They are right when they say that no single torch may light the way.

That is why we have many small, flickering lights. Many luminous souls. Many hands clasped together, strangers screaming in the night that we will make it until dawn.

We will make it until dawn.
